Olympus Migration assists with several options for individuals who are New Zealand Citizens and wish to migrate to Australia (or remain in Australia on a permanent basis).
This may include assistance with applying for Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, a Work Visa or lodging a Partner Visa or Family Relationship Visa for their spouse or other family members. Options differ depending on whether the New Zealand Citizen is considered an 'eligible' New Zealand Citizen or not.
To be an 'eligible' New Zealand Citizen, they must have been in Australia on the 26th of February 2001 or must have been in Australia for 12 months between the 26th of February 1999 and the 26th of February 2001 or have been assessed as a 'Protected SCV Holder' by Centrelink Australia.
A new Direct Pathway to Australian Citizenship was announced in April 2023 for New Zealand Citizens. We have updated our website explaining this. You can click here for more information.
If the New Zealand Citizen is not an 'eligible' New Zealand Citizen, there are other options, which can also be seen below.
Some of the below options are very complex with different pathways and eligibility criteria, so we recommend that you book a complimentary consultation with Andreas Athanasiou by scrolling to the Booking section at the bottom of this page.
You can have everything explained to you so you can make the right decision and not apply for the wrong visa application, which would cost you money, time and potentially the opportunity to re-apply immediately, in some cases.
Citizens of New Zealand who live in Australia may be eligible for Australian Citizenship (by Conferral).
This option may be for Citizens of New Zealand who were in Australia on the 26th of February 2001; or may be eligible for a new Direct Pathway if they have been residing in Australia for 4 years or more (will be available after the 1st of July 2023).
Click below to find out more about the Australian Citizenship pathways for Citizens of New Zealand.
If the Citizen of New Zealand is deemed eligible, they may be able to sponsor their Spouse for a Partner Visa (SC 820 or SC 309) or a Prospective Marriage Visa (SC 300).
The criteria for all Partner Visas will apply as if the Citizen of New Zealand is an Australian Citizen, if they meet the criteria required (being an 'eligible' New Zealand).

If the Citizen of New Zealand is deemed eligible, they may be able to sponsor their Parent(s) for a Temporary or Permanent Australian Parent Visa.
The criteria for all Parent Visas will apply as if the Citizen of New Zealand is an Australian Citizen, if they meet the criteria required (being an 'eligible' New Zealand).

If the Citizen of New Zealand is not deemed eligible for the other options above, they may be able to temporarily sponsor their Spouse or their Child using this popular option.
This is a Temporary Family Visa that can be granted for 5 years (each time) for the Spouse/De Facto Partner and/or the Child of a Citizen of New Zealand.
Click below to find out more about this Temporary Family Visa, the pathways and the eligibility criteria.
If the Citizen of New Zealand is not deemed eligible for the direct Australian Citizenship options above, they may be eligible to apply for an Australian Work or Skilled Visa.

You can be a Citizen of New Zealand and another country at the same time — unless the other country does not allow it. In this case, Australia allows it.
However, as overseas Citizenship laws may change frequently, we recommend that all New Zealand Citizens who are prospective Australian Citizenship Applicants contact their nearest New Zealand Consulate or Embassy to get the latest information on New Zealand's Dual Citizenship allowance.
