Olympus Migration - Australian Citizenship - Conferral Descent Birth - Pathways - Free Consultation

Olympus Migration assists eligible individuals with a range of pathways to Australian citizenship, including Citizenship by Conferral, Citizenship by Descent, Citizenship by Birth and Citizenship by Conferral for eligible New Zealand citizens. Each pathway has specific eligibility criteria, all of which are explained in detail on this page.

Becoming an Australian citizen grants you a range of important rights and privileges, including the ability to apply for an Australian passport, receive assistance from Australian embassies and consulates overseas, vote in federal, state, and local elections, work in the Australian Public Service, serve in the Australian Defence Force and enjoy full residency rights with no visa limitations

Citizenship represents the highest form of legal membership in Australia and offers long-term security and belonging..

Given the complexity of the Citizenship process and the numerous eligibility requirements involved, we recommend booking a complimentary consultation with Andreas Athanasiou to discuss your specific circumstances and pathway options.

Australian Citizenship (by Conferral)

Australian Citizenship (by Conferral) is available to eligible Australian permanent residents who meet the general residency and other eligibility requirements.

The application process varies depending on the applicant’s age and personal circumstances, and in most cases requires applicants to sit and pass the Australian Citizenship Test.

These are assessed in accordance with the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 and the Australian Citizenship Regulations 2016, including the general eligibility and residency requirements prescribed under the legislation.

Australian Citizenship (by Descent)

Australian Citizenship (by Descent) is available to individuals born outside Australia who have at least one parent who was an Australian citizen at the time of their birth.

Applicants under this pathway are not required to sit the Australian Citizenship Test, however they must satisfy character requirements and provide verifiable evidence of their descent, which may include historical or long-standing documentary records.

These applications are assessed in accordance with the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 and the Australian Citizenship Regulations 2016.

Australian Citizenship (by Birth)

Australian Citizenship (by Birth) applies to individuals born in Australia where at least one parent was an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident at the time of birth.

In addition, a person born in Australia who has ordinarily resided in Australia for the first ten years of their life may acquire Australian citizenship automatically, regardless of their parents’ immigration status.

These applications are assessed in accordance with the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 and the Australian Citizenship Regulations 2016.

Australian Citizenship (for Citizens of New Zealand)

Australian Citizenship (by Conferral) is available to eligible New Zealand citizens who are living in Australia and meet the relevant residency and eligibility requirements.

Eligibility may arise for certain New Zealand citizens who were present in Australia on 26 February 2001 and have maintained ongoing residence, as well as through the direct citizenship pathway introduced for eligible New Zealand citizens under recent legislative amendments.

These applications are assessed in accordance with the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 and the Australian Citizenship Regulations 2016.

Resident Return Visa (Subclass 155/157)

The Resident Return Visa (RRV) is available to current Australian permanent residents who no longer hold a valid travel facility on their permanent visa.

As most permanent visas include a five-year travel facility, holders who wish to travel internationally after this period must apply for a Resident Return visa to retain the right to re-enter Australia as a permanent resident.

Applications are assessed in accordance with the Migration Act 1958 and the Migration Regulations 1994, including the visa criteria set out in Schedule 2 to the Regulations.

Our ‘Peace of Mind’ Policy

Our Director and Registered Migration Agent, Andreas Athanasiou, has dedicated over a decade to helping people build a future in Australia. Being an immigrant himself, his journey is deeply personal — he understands that every visa is not just an application, but a life, a dream, and a family hoping for a better tomorrow.

With more than 1,000 visas successfully prepared, Andreas has supported individuals and families from over 100 countries, each with their own story. Many of our clients began this journey feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or uncertain — but they found comfort, clarity, and success when they placed their trust in him. You can read more about his journey in our About Us section.

Whether you meet Andreas in person in Melbourne or speak with him via Zoom from anywhere in the world, you will be treated with kindness, dignity, and respect. Your concerns will be heard, your questions will be answered, and your future will be handled with care.

We offer a full 1-hour complimentary consultation because you deserve time, attention and genuine guidance — not rushed advice or expensive upfront fees. We firmly believe you should not have to pay hundreds of dollars just to understand your options, or be charged heavily before receiving real clarity.

We are committed to standing by your side every step of the way. In the unlikely event your application is refused, Olympus Migration will prepare and lodge a new application or appeal to the Tribunal at no additional professional fees, if you are eligible. This is our promise to you, and our ‘Peace of Mind’ policy. We do this because we believe in you — and we don’t give up on our clients.

At Olympus Migration, you are not just another file.
You are our family — and your journey is our mission.
